WhatsApp has been ramping up the addition of handy new features in recent times, such as being able to edit messages at last, and another very handy new feature could be on the way.

A post from Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook announced that WhatsApp screen sharing during a video call is coming to all users of the popular messaging service. The feature was first released to WhatsApp beta testers in May 2023, and now it's coming for everyone to enjoy.

How to share screen on WhatsApp

It's important to note that this feature is rolling out to users gradually as of publication. It's coming out in a phased manner on Android, iOS, and Windows, so if the procedure outlined below doesn't work for you, it means the feature hasn't rolled out to your device just yet.

However, if the feature is enabled for you, the steps below are how it works, and should give a strong sense of how screen-sharing will work if it's added for everyone very shortly.

1. Open WhatsApp
2. Start a video call with a contact
3. At the bottom of the display, tap the screen-sharing icon (a phone with an arrow on it)
4. Confirm that you want to share your screen
5. Tap on Stop Sharing whenever you'd like to stop your screen share

At this stage, though, it hasn't rolled out to us yet, so we can't test how many people you can screen share with at once. However, in the photo shared by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, you can see more than two people in the call, so we can safely assume that this feature will support group calls.

When does screen-sharing come to WhatsApp?

We finally know that the new screen-sharing feature is now rolling out to all WhatsApp users, having started on August 8, 2023. Anyone looking to try out the feature on Android, iOS, or Windows should follow the steps outlined above.

If the screen-sharing icon (a phone with an arrow on it) is there, you can use it. If it's not, just wait a few more days and it should become available to you.
