Time doesn't ever stop flying by, but that also means that there are plenty of new games being announced all the time. Even if the PlayStation 5 is out, the PS4 still has a host of great games coming down the pike.

Here, then, are the cream of the crop, with release dates and trailers for each game. You'll find them listed in chronological order according to their release date, so that you can see what to put on your wishlist next.

EA Sports FC 24

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 29 September 2023
  • PS4 exclusive? No, also on PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC
  • Publisher: EA

FC 24 is FIFA by another name - it's the latest in the long-running football series, but without that famous name, so it'll be interesting to see if it can maintain the same sky-high sales.

On the pitch, the game is getting animation improvements, more realistic broadcast touches and some all-important tweaks to how its gameplay works.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 5 October 2023
  • PS4 exclusive? No, also on PS5, Xbox and PC
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

The next Assassin's Creed game has been eagerly awaited, with a couple of years passing since Valhalla, and it's going to be a tighter, smaller affair with a narrower focus.

We'll play as Basim, a young Assassin making his way in ancient Baghdad, and it looks like a real throwback to the style of play that made the series so popular in the first place.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 19 October 2023
  • PS4 exclusive? No, also on PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC
  • Publisher: Deep Silver

The first Hot Wheels Unleashed was a surprise hit - an incredibly accomplished kart racer in disguise that didn't get much fanfare but really won players over with its fun racing.

Now it's getting a deserved sequel that looks much more expansive, with new vehicle types and a whole slew of new tracks to explore and master.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 10 November 2023
  • PS4 exclusive? No, also on PS5, Xbox and PC
  • Publisher: Activision

It wouldn't be a year in the gaming world without a new Call of Duty, and this time around we're getting Modern Warfare 3, promising another explosive campaign and multiplayer pairing.

In a first for a Modern Warfare game, there will also be a full Zombies offering featuring an open-world map hosting multiple squads, which sounds pretty darn fun.

Beyond Good And Evil 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS4 exclusive? No, also on Xbox and PC
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

Announced back during E3 in June 2017, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is long overdue, especially considering the first was released over 15 years ago, and we still have no clue when it might be ready. The game's other-world setting - where multiple species communicate and interact - is quirky, cheeky and stunning. Think The Fifth Element in video game form and you're halfway there.
